Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: 24-37 hours per week (flexible)
Contract Type: Permanent Contract (six months probation)

About Us
We are a busy, friendly Gp Practice serving approximately 7200 patients in the Newry area. Our team is dedicated to providing high quality patient care in a supportive and professional environment. We are now seeking an enthusiastic and organised Medical Receptionist to join our front of house team.
The Role
As a key member of our reception team, you will be the first point of contact for patients, both in person and over the phone. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day to day running of the practice by managing appointments, maintaining accurate records and supporting the clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with duty rota
- Greet and assist patients in a courteous, efficient and confidential manner
- Handle incoming calls and patient enquiries professionally and signposting patients to correct services
- Manage appointment bookings and repeat prescription requests
- Update and maintain patient records on our Emis Clinical system
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, coding and scanning documents
- Process patient correspondence, referrals and test results as required
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, MDT staff and administrative staff to support the practice operations.
- There may be a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent on workload and staffing levels
About You
We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable and comfortable working in a busy patient-focused environment.
Essential Skills and Qualities
- Minimum of 5 GCSE's grade c or above including English and Maths
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong IT and administrative skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
- A team player with a flexible, can-do attitude
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and data protection
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a GP practice or healthcare setting
- Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical systems e.g. Emis Web
