Contract | Remote | UK-based only | 2–3 days (initial)
We're developing technology for tremor measurement and monitoring, building our own wearable while also integrating with existing sensor platforms.
We're looking for a signal-processing and firmware specialist to help shape our prototype and refine real-time tremor-detection algorithms.
What you'll do
- Design and optimise real-time processing pipelines for accelerometer/IMU data.
- Implement and tune filtering, noise reduction, and feature-extraction algorithms.
- Support firmware integration and advise on sampling, buffering, and architecture.
- Validate detection algorithms using clinical or real-world datasets.
- Document methods and transfer knowledge to the internal team.
Minimum qualifications
- Strong background in digital signal processing and embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience with accelerometer or IMU data.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ for real-time algorithm development.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results quickly in an R&D environment.
Nice to have's
- Experience with wearable SDKs or low-power embedded platforms (e.g. ARM Cortex-M).
- Experience developing Apple Watch applications
- Familiarity with medical-device workflows (accuracy, data privacy).
- Exposure to edge computing or on-device ML.
- Background in tremor or movement-disorder analysis.
Deliverables (initial engagement)
- Working signal-processing pipeline (code + notes).
- Firmware architecture recommendations.
- Initial tremor-detection algorithm refinements with metrics.
About us
We're an early-stage healthtech startup built from our founder's lived experience with essential tremor. We're a mighty team of three - product, marketing and engineering. Our approach bridges in-house hardware development and integration with various existing wearables, building the technical foundation for clinical validation and large-scale data analysis.
