Schroders Capital Solutions Portfolio Manager
Who We're Looking For
As a Portfolio Manager within Schroders Capital Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and ongoing management of bespoke private markets portfolios for our institutional client base. You will report directly to the Head of Portfolio Management and collaborate closely with investment specialists, structuring, risk, and client relationship teams to deliver tailored, high-conviction solutions. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-5 years of experience and will bring a combination of multi-asset public and/or private portfolio management experience. Alternatively, the candidate will have hands-on analytical skills and investment process experience acquired either in investment banking or asset management, with direct experience or deep knowledge of one more private asset classes, including private equity, infrastructure, private debt, and real estate. You will initially contribute to and within a few months be responsible for strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, capital allocation decisions, investment pipeline and portfolio reviews, relative value views, governance, and client reporting and engagement, ensuring funds and mandates are delivered with precision, transparency, and long-term value creation.

The team
Schroders Capital Solutions is the multi-asset private markets advisory and portfolio management team within Schroders Capital. We specialise in designing and managing bespoke investment solutions for institutional, wealth, and OCIO clients, with responsibility for total portfolio outcomes, dynamic asset allocation, and flexible implementation across the full spectrum of private markets, spanning private equity, infrastructure, private debt and credit alternatives, real estate, and diversifying strategies. The team operates at the intersection of portfolio construction, investment execution, structuring, risk management, and client engagement—delivering high-conviction, outcome-oriented portfolios that meet complex client objectives. Our work spans evergreen and closed-ended mandates, and we are deeply embedded in Schroders' global private markets platform, leveraging both internal capabilities and external managers to deliver solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead or support the design, implementation, capital planning and allocation decisions of multi-asset private markets portfolios
- Engage with clients and advisers on their funds and accounts, communicating investment & portfolio performance, market views, capital planning, allocation decisions, relative value views, etc.
- Develop strategic asset allocations and portfolio construction frameworks using quantitative and qualitative tools, incorporating client objectives, liquidity requirements, risk considerations, and other constraints or preferences
- Work with internal investment teams and external managers to identify and implement investment strategies across asset classes with guidelines that meet the overall portfolio objectives
- Prepare and present investment recommendations to internal committees and client boards
- Support the development of governance frameworks and risk management processes across mandates
- Manage ongoing portfolio oversight, including performance monitoring, attribution, rebalancing, risk and liquidity management, and tactical allocation decisions
- Collaborate with structuring, legal, and operations teams to ensure mandates are implemented efficiently and compliantly
- Contribute to fundraising and investor relations activities, including portfolio reviews and client reporting
- Participate in or contribute towards thought leadership, webinars, and product innovation initiatives within Schroders Capital
The Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications You Need
- A minimum of 2–5 years of experience in investment banking or asset management, with exposure to multi-asset liquid strategies, or alternative strategies including private equity, infrastructure, real estate, and private debt and credit.
- A keen interest in portfolio management—preferably with experience in multi-asset liquid strategies and/or private markets—as well as an understanding of portfolio construction principles and risk management.
- Familiarity with concepts of asset allocation, risk modelling, and investment analysis for the purposes of designing, managing, and supporting bespoke investment solutions for institutional and wealth clients
- Understanding of private markets fund structures such as semi-liquids, evergreen SMAs, co-mingled and closed-ended vehicles is beneficial
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders and clients
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with intellectual flexibility and comfort in both qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Team player, comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, with an ability to multi-task under tight deadlines and a high standard of investment decision making and client delivery
- Knowledge of governance, compliance, and operational considerations in private markets investing
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field; advanced degree or CFA preferred
