Job Summary
We are seeking a fun loving, adaptable and compassionate person to come and join our team, to support with our wraparound care, filling in when staff are off sick or on holiday in our breakfast and afterschool club. The successful candidate will be flexible and able to work as part of a team to assist with activities and fostering a safe, nurturing environment for children aged between 2 and 11 years old. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about working with children to develop their skills within a supportive team. Further bank hours may be available in our pre-school for the right candidate.
Purpose of the job: to work as part of a team under the direction of the After school club supervisor to provide safe, secure, care for school and pre-school children ensuring that the safeguarding and well-being of all children is paramount at all times.
Main purpose of the job:
· To ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of children at all times
· To be active and committed to ensuring that all children attending the setting receive high quality care and are kept safe
· To be active in providing stimulating out of school experiences and activities within the framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage and playwork principles
· To ensure that the care and planned activities and experiences meet the children's individual needs and interests.
· To build strong relationships with parents and carers.
To help provide a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage the learning and development of children.
To ensure that the setting is a safe environment for children, staff and others, that the equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times.
To ensure that the environment in the room and outdoors supports the children's well-being, is developmentally appropriate for the children attending and follows their interests.
To be responsible for providing a curriculum that is interesting and stimulating which supports and promotes the children's learning. To monitor the effectiveness of the curriculum.
To be responsible for providing high quality care ensuring all daily routines are followed.
To maintain a proactive and professional staff team.
To support other staff in their key person role. To help undertake inductions for new staff.
To contribute to and implement all the settings policies and procedures.
To ensure that records are properly maintained e.g. daily attendance register, accident, and incident book.
To develop close links with parents, informing them about the settings activities and their child's development, encouraging their involvement.
To liaise with the manager and other supervisors, charity trustees, Ofsted and other professionals as necessary and ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented, to provide reports as necessary.
To attend in-service training and meetings as required.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the manager in accordance with the pre-school and charity's objectives.

· Sound understanding of child development and children's needs
· Ability to support planning and implement an effective curriculum
· Ability to work with parents and encourage their involvement
· Ability to work as a team

Desirable criteria
· An early years qualification to Level 2/3
· Paediatric First Aid Certificate
· Food Safety certificate
· Experience of children with SEN
An understanding of Education for children 4-11 years old
Pay: £12.21 per hour
