About the team

What you'll do

We are looking for a highly skilled and visionary Product General Manager to lead the development and expansion of our Payroll business from the ground up.
Reporting to the Global Product SVP, this role will involve building a team dedicated and taking full ownership of the product's P&L.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the financial services industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of launching and managing profitable business lines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for our Payroll business, aligning with Airwallex's strategic goals and market opportunities.

  • Create and implement business plans to establish and scale the Payroll product line, including full P&L ownership, setting financial targets, managing budgets, and driving business growth.

  • Partner with global commercial teams and key customers to deeply understand critical customer problems and identify the right segments to serve.

  • Collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders to drive successful business impact.

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the Payroll industry sector, including current market structures, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends.

Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing cross-functional team focused on Payroll products, including recruiting and developing top talent.

What we're looking for

We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

  • 10+ years of work experience, with significant time in fintech, financial services, or professional services with financial product ownership.

  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and managing products, with demonstrated P&L ownership and financial acumen.

  • Deep expertise in embedded Payroll solutions and first-party lending products, with a strong understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a history of making data-driven decisions and driving product innovation.

  • Experience sourcing, negotiating, and securing capital and credit facilities to support business growth.

  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities, with experience in developing and managing high-performing teams.

  • Excellent financial management skills, with the ability to oversee budgets, forecast performance, and drive profitability.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to thrive in cross-cultural and cross-functional teams.

  • Evidence of exemplary academic achievements (e.g. high GPA, Dean's list, scholarship, etc.).
