Our incredibly busy Gardening, Landscaping and Tree Surgery business is looking for a full-time gardener to join our professional service, throughout the greater York area. We are a 14 strong team of professionals looking to add a new competent member to the team.

Your responsibilities and duties will include, although not be limited to;

  • Working to detailed briefs for assigned work and taking a hands on approach to a wide variety of jobs including grass cutting, weeding, strimming, tree cutting, pruning, hedge trimming, and possibly some hard landscaping.
  • Managing your time and tasks effectively as this job is very physically demanding and you'll be working outdoors in all weathers.
  • Being able to work in a team, but often on your own
  • Able to use a wide range of petrol garden machinery and tools including lawn mowers, strimmers, brushcutters, blowers, turf cutters, chainsaws, weed sprayers, hedgetrimmers, scarifiers and rotavators.
  • Must meet at YO32 9SJ @ 7.30am each working day, or if supplied with a company vehicle a specific site

As you'll take responsibility for a range of allocated daily tasks within your geographical area, ensuring work is completed on time and to the highest possible standards, whilst operating in a professional and friendly manner to deliver high standards of customer service.

To be considered for this Gardener role you will have the following experience, skills and attributes;

  • Hold a UK Driving Licence
  • A Minimum of 1 year experience in similar position
  • A good eye and attention to detail. Applicants should be experienced in all aspects of garden preparation and maintenance.
  • A Pro-Active approach. Being able to walk into any garden and see what needs doing is essential
  • Have good communication and customer service skills.
  • Any horticultural qualifications would be an advantage
  • Experience in paving, driveways, turfing, brickwork, site levelling, fencing, decking etc, would be an advantage
  • PA1, PA6 Spraying Licence Preferable (not essential).
  • CS30, CS31 Chainsaw Licence Preferable (not essential).

Potential employees will be offered a 1 day paid work trial. The position will be offered on the basis of this trial. The job is offered on a full time temporary basis to end of December, with real scope to continue on a permeant basis.

Hours , Monday - Friday. Overtime available

Salary: £ £13 per hour
