Finatal is partnering with a Midlands-based SME Professional Services business that has recently secured private equity funding from a mid-market firm. Having been privately owned for over a decade, they're seeking a high-calibre Financial Controller to lead a post-investment professionalisation project.

Initially, you'll assess current financial practices, ERP, reporting and identify areas for improvement to align the finance function with private equity portfolio standards. Subsequently, you'll spearhead the implementation of these process improvements. Eventually, the business aims to pursue a buy & build strategy over this cycle, once strong initial foundations are built.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Improve month end reporting.
  • Oversee and enhance financial controls, processes, and systems to support scalability.
  • Assess the ERP system in use and whether this is fit for purpose.
  • Manage the finance team, providing leadership and support to ensure high performance.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on budget forecasts, financial planning, and cash flow management.
  • Assist with audits, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience within a professional services business is highly desired.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including statutory reporting and consolidations.
