Interim Financial Controller (6 months)

Core3 are working with a leading manufacturing business to recruit an Interim Financial Controller to step into a critical role during a period of transition. This is an opportunity to take ownership of finance operations across multiple UK sites, providing strong controllership.

How you'll make an impact

As Interim Financial Controller, you'll ensure continuity across core finance operations, supporting finance teams across the UK. You'll take charge of month-end, reporting, and audits while guiding and supporting local finance managers.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Owning month-end close, reconciliations, balance sheet integrity, and reporting
  • Overseeing Finance Managers across multiple sites, ensuring consistency and timely delivery
  • Reviewing and approving AP/AR activity, vendor setups, credit limits, and payments
  • Acting as lead contact for audit (PWC), ensuring smooth handover and issue resolution
  • Providing oversight to the shared service team (c.7 people), supporting issue resolution and escalation
  • Driving balance sheet discipline, financial controls, and compliance (including internal controls projects with EY)
  • Supporting team stability and confidence through organisational change

Why our client is excited about you

You're a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with strong controllership and operational finance experience. You've worked in complex businesses of scale, ideally in manufacturing or engineering, and you understand variances and stock.

You'll also bring:

  • Proven experience managing finance operations through transition or change
  • Knowledge of audit and SOX/internal controls
  • A confident, people-first leadership style - building trust and guiding teams calmly through busy periods

The assignment

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Day rate: £500-£600 per day (Inside IR35, via umbrella)
  • Start: ASAP
  • Location: Gloucestershire / Cheltenham
