Contract Type:  Permanent

Hours: Full time OR part-time/job shared considered. Monday to Friday

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Child psychologist with extensive experience of MDT working, neurodevelopmental conditions and complex neuro disability to join our wonderful team at The Portland Hospital.

The successful candidate will have experience in neuropsychological assessment and /or experience of working within an ASD assessment service.  There will be a requirement to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings and be well versed in most recent research in child and adolescent therapies.

You will work within the therapy team at The Portland Hospital but also have contact with the wider Psychology team across other HCA locations.

Responsibilities:  

  • Conduct psychological assessments and/or tests for diagnostic purposes.  

  • Neuropsychology formulation, assessment and recommendations  

  • Develop an individualised treatment plan for each child and their families.  

  • Education and support for families dealing with complex neurodisabilities or a new diagnosis.    

  • Psychological consultation to colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team.  

  • Teaching and training.  

  • Contribution to service developments.  

Requirements:  

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in psychology, a graduate degree in psychology, and finally a Ph.D. or. Psy.D. in clinical or child psychology.  

  • Several years' practical experience working with children with neurological deficit or within an ASD diagnostic service (ADOS trained desirable)  

  • Approachable and empathic for children to be comfortable working with you.  

  • Knowledgeable of different therapeutic methods and able to switch between different approaches to meet each child's needs.  

  • Excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate with children of different ages and from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.  

  • Collaboration with MDT, therapy treating team and systems surrounding the child, to provide a team-based holistic approach to patient care.
