We are looking for an experienced Home Lead to join us at our Complex Care Home in Torquay, Devon.You should be caring and enthusiastic, have excellent computer and admin skills and have previous experience of working in care or have a nursing background.
The Home Lead supports the organisation by overseeing the delivery of daily care and support for the residents. Managing the staff to ensure the delivery of care and support meets both CQC and local authority quality standards. Being responsible for updating care plans to reflect the residents needs and ensure their health and wellbeing is maintained. This will include working with health and allied professionals outside of the organisation to provide the best personal centred care delivery.
Full DescriptionManagement of staff
- Provide effective leadership, management support and guidance to the staff team you manage and in the development of the service.
- Be responsible for overseeing all aspects of management including regular supervision (formal and informal), workload management, attendance, development, support and performance. In line with guidance and Instruction from the senior manager.
- Chair meetings and handovers and prepare reports and records appropriate for the service as delegated by the registered manager.
- Lead staff and resident's meetings as delegated by the registered manager.
- Address low level complaints and conduct/capability issues that arise in line with policy and in collaboration with HR and line management.
- Ensure that all required paperwork is completed and returned to HR including return to work interviews with staff and identification of any additional support required.
- Ensure that any investigations that are required are completed in liaison with HR and line management and actions carried out.
- Ensure that any risk assessments are completed, signed and shared with appropriate persons.
- Support the teams working in the home to deliver consistent quality care, managing emergencies, and providing the team with solutions to ensure that residents receive quality care.
- Encourage the team to be creative, supporting, encouraging an innovative approach to support residents to be confident enabling them to achieve.
Management of service
- Engage in development of service action plan for the service to improve practice in collaboration with Senior Leadership team.
- Be responsible for the dissemination of all polices procedures and relevant information to staff and ensure a reciprocal flow of information.
- Oversee the management of staff performance throughout the service, utilising all available tools (reviews, audits, reports, management information) in order to achieve expected organisational standards as instructed by the senior leadership team.
- Ensure the services complies with appropriate alerts to CQC and the local authority safeguarding team, whilst following organisational policies.
- Monitor the effective implementation of policies and procedures, through supervisions, competency assessment and observations.
- Monitor support plans and placement plans, activities and community involvement, and provide oversight of placement planning.
- Provide and ensure there is a rota that ensures adequate cover for all shifts and adheres to the rotas format and budget.
- Take part in the On Call rota as required.
Performance Quality
- Ensure you engage in measuring and assessing the quality of the service, gathering evidence from a range of sources including residents reviews, hard data, views of residents, audit and local authority compliance.
- Use information from quality monitoring to take corrective action and improve services.
- Ensure the service is fully prepared and ready for inspection.
- Ensure systems are in place to consider and learn from adverse incidents.
- Prepare responses to queries from stakeholders if instructed by the registered manager.
- Investigate complaints and act on findings as requested by line manager.
Finance
- Ensure the efficient use of resources including approval of rotas and hours used; authorisation of overtime, provision of relief and agency cover and other establishment costs.
Human Resources and Training
- Assist in the interview process for staff when required and oversee the induction of new staff.
- Deliver services in line with equal opportunity practices and give due and professional attention to issues of diversity.
- Undertake enquiries and investigations in accordance with employment policies and procedures in collaboration with your line manager and HR lead when required.
- Engage in the process of enquiries and investigations in line with the organisations and Local authorities safeguarding policies and procedures when required.
- Ensure the organisation adheres to relevant acts, where applicable, GDPR and that sufficient risk assessments are in place where required.
- In conjunction with the training and development manager produce clear specifications for all training needed to meet the Training Plan ensuring all staff have the skills, knowledge, and flexibility to deliver a quality service.
- Assess effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and key performance indicators (KPI's).
- Promote a high standard of professional practice through personal example, encouraging appropriate professional training and development by managing a comprehensive programme of Performance Management and formulating specific Learning and Development Plans for each team member (in collaboration with HR and training & development).
- Have a strong understanding and knowledge of mental health & physical health conditions.

- Great understanding of CQC regulation.
- QCF level 3 or above qualified
