Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Sterile Services Assistant to join the SSD team on the bank.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, with opportunity to make independent decisions, performs duties that will include receiving, sorting, inspecting, cleaning, disinfecting, assembling, preparing, sterilizing, storing and issuing reusable surgical instruments and equipment.
- To assist the multi-disciplinary theatre team to provide exemplary care by ensuring theatre and endoscopy instrumentation and equipment are correct and ready for use.
- Monitor repairs of instruments
- Pack linen/instruments/consumables for sterilisation.
- Checking functioning of sterilising and decontamination equipment according to manufacturer's instructions
- Complete tracking systems accurately.
Who we're looking for:
- Certificate in Decontamination or NVQ level 3 in Decontamination or TVQ level 1 & 2 in Decontamination (Desirable)
- Self-Motivated
- Ability to work alone and in teams
- Basic awareness of health, safety and hygiene
- Principles of infection control, fundamentals of microbiology and aseptic technique
- Knowledge of SSD machinery (Desirable)
- Knowledge of basic instruments and equipment (Desirable)
- Knowledge of sterile packing techniques (Desirable)
- Knowledge of ISO standards (Desirable)
- Training can be given for the right candidate
Contract : Bank 0 hours, flexible working
Hours : Shifts could be Monday to Sat anytime between 7am and 9pm and Saturday 8am to 5pm
