Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our exclusive manufacturing client based in Dundee for a permanent Finance Manager to join and lead their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join an established business in Dundee that has been running for circa 70 years during an exciting period of growth and change. Overall, the Finance Manager role is crucial in steering the company's financial direction, ensuring sound financial planning, management and reporting while also playing a key role in the company's growth and development. This position offers a salary of £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience + 34 days annual leave and a half day on a Friday. This role is based full time on-site.

The opportunity

Reporting to an off-site Group Finance Director and on-site General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the business's financial activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and providing sound financial guidance to support business objectives. The primary responsibilities include financial planning and analysis, cash flow management, forecasting and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team of 2
  • Complete accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial reports, analysing performance against budget & forecasts
  • Manage the preparation of annual statutory accounts and maintain relationships with external auditors
  • Lead the budgeting and long-term financial planning process, preparing annual and five-year plans
  • Finance business partner with department heads to provide financial insight, support budget control and drive financial updates
  • Manage cashflow, prepare statements and ensure tax compliance including VAT, corporation tax and R & D claims
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AF, payroll and general ledger
  • Evaluate and improve financial processes and systems, implementing new solutions to enhance reporting and drive process improvement
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and support to the General Manager in approving financial proposals for investment or other business activities

The candidate

You will be a fully qualified accountant, however qualified by experience individuals will also be considered. You will have experience working within a busy finance team, ideally within a manufacturing or similar industry (ie - engineering, construction, supply-chain etc). You will be experienced in completing both management and financial accounting including year-end. You will possess excellent IT skills especially Excel and ideally Power BI (but this is not essential). You will have excellent communication skills with a strong ability to business partner with various internal and external stakeholders. You will have a process improvement and problem solving mindset and experience in financial analysis & financial modelling is highly desirable.

Renumeration and Benefits
