Talent Locker are pleased to be partnering with a leading defence and technology organisation supporting MOD and Military customers, recruiting for a Systems Administrator.

As the System Administrator, you'll play a key role in maintaining and supporting the technical infrastructure of a high-profile programme. You will ensure system reliability, maintain strong security protocols and manage regular patching and maintenance routines across multiple environments. This position requires a proactive approach, strong technical ability, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor system performance and respond proactively to alerts through Elastic monitoring tools
  • Ensure network connectivity and infrastructure supporting the programme remain reliable and fully operational
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments using tools such as Nessus
  • Review and act upon outputs from the SOC to maintain system integrity and compliance
  • Implement firewall upgrades and configuration updates within the programme infrastructure
  • Manage windows server update services (WSUS) for controlled patch deployment
  • Maintain Linux repositories and oversee patching cycles across pre production and production environments

Relevant Experience

  • Proven experience in system administration in a similar environment
  • Familiarity with elastic monitoring, Nessus scanning and SOC workflows
  • Hands on experience with patching tools and firewall management
  • Proficient with both Linux and Windows Server
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of network protocols and cyber security principles
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security , Microsoft certified, azure administrator or similar

This position is based in Farnborough and although there will some flexibility to allow hybrid working, you should be willing to attend site 3-5 days per week as required.

It is an essential requirement to hold current UK SC clearance and to be willing and eligible for UK DV Clearance.
