Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Support Worker
2 days ago
What is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy?
Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy is the assessment and rehabilitation of people who have physical symptoms affecting the soft tissues, bones and joints. These conditions can have a significant negative impact on a person's ability to manage day to day activities and reducing their quality of life.
Have you got people skills, motivation and a desire to help people reach their maximum physical potential? Do you have a background in rehabilitation, sport or the caring professions, or have a passion to learn and grow a career in health care? Are you organised and have a keen eye for detail?
If so, we can support and develop you to work as part of the Physiotherapy Team, to work alongside the Physiotherapists, to manage a caseload of MSK patients and provide invaluable support to the smooth running of the department. Our support workers are essential to the quality and sustainability of the service.
Previous experience working with people with MSK conditions, or working in a healthcare, patient support, or exercise environment is desirable. If you are motivated, possess excellent leadership potential and communication skills, know how to relate to people and have a willingness to be an active team player and are keen to make a difference to the lives of others, we would be interested to hear from you.
Our support worker team in MSK Physiotherapy also links with staff in Learning Disabilities and Children and Young people teams, and we plan to further develop the support worker role in the Service.
We would like you to help grow the support worker role as the service continues to grow and develop. Whilst the majority of the Service is based around the Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline areas, the opportunity to travel around Fife and work in various settings is available and may be required.
If, like us, you are keen to put the patient at the centre of care and seek a career with development opportunities please contact us. We can provide a stimulating and learning working environment, with regular in-service training, peer review, mentorship and varied experiential opportunties at all levels. We will support your Continiung Professional Development (CPD), participation in service evaluations, clinical audits, and practice development networks. You will also be well supported by our team of experienced Advanced Practice Physiotherapists and a Consultant Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.
Fife provides a unique location to live and work, sitting between the two major cities of Edinburgh and Dundee, with access to beautiful countryside and coastline locally. The Highlands and the majority of the countries' population are within an hour and a half drive from central Fife.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.
To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.
For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or 'going rate'. Further information on these criteria can be found here.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team. For more details on these changes please visit: Disclosure Scotland Changes.
We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
