About the role

Connect Plus Services (CPS) operates and maintains the M25 motorway network, including all adjoining trunk and slip roads on behalf of Connect Plus. The M25 is one of the busiest sections of road in the UK. It is also undoubtedly one of the most significant. We carry out routine maintenance, winter maintenance, as well as managing the whole-life requirement of over 250,000 assets. We also manage the operation of the network and identify ways of reducing delays and improving journey time reliability.

To deliver our work successfully, our 600+ staff use a range of desktop and mobile IT applications, including Agile Assets, Unity, KOREC, Inform, Esri and Power BI, with underlying data held in Microsoft SQL and Oracle databases. These systems are used for incident response, inventory management, inspections, maintenance activities, in-depth data analysis, and intervention planning. Further to this, CPS trials and implements a wide range of new technology on the network.

We are seeking a QA Test Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience of defining, maintaining, and running tests for a range of software applications (browser and app-based). Experienced in the asset management or highways industry will be beneficial. They will have experience in different stages of testing and will know how to set these up and run them to help ensure high quality products are delivered to our stakeholders. Testing stages will include ad hoc testing, unit testing, integration testing, UAT and potentially automated testing.

What you'll be doing

  • Set up, maintain, and run test suites for browser and app-based applications
  • Set up a range of testing capabilities, including unit testing, integration testing, UAT and potentially test automation
  • Manage and track bugs / issues
  • Contribute to the requirements and design stages of projects, bringing testing knowledge and planning to the process
  • Collaborate closely with project team members and stakeholders, building effective relationships

  • Support the delivery of Connect Plus Services Sustainability activities

Who we're looking for

  • At least two years' experience in software testing, including unit testing, integration testing, UAT and potentially automated testing
  • An understanding of spatial data and linear referencing systems / models
  • Ability to trace data flows through client-server systems and diagnose issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly organised and with attention to detail
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Flexible, motivated and able to persevere in challenging situations
  • MS Office (Word, Excel)
