Job Overview
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by supporting them to engage in activities outside their home. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate, person-centred support to clients during community outings — helping them participate in social, recreational, and educational activities that promote independence, confidence, and wellbeing. This role is ideal for someone who is caring, patient, and enjoys making a positive difference in others' lives while working as part of a supportive team.
Duties
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care.
- Prepare meals and assist with cooking to meet dietary needs.
- Maintain cleanliness in living areas and assist with light housekeeping tasks.
- Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to enhance their emotional well-being.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs and document progress accurately.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification are essential for ensuring client safety
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is a plus.
- Proficiency in caregiving tasks including meal preparation, cleaning, and patient monitoring.
