Manchester, United Kingdom University of Manchester Full time

This advertisement is for a job share with a current member of staff, who will work the remaining 14 hours per week. Some overlap in the roles will be required to enable a full-team meeting.

When you're with us, you're not only working for the University. You're working for people in our local communities and beyond, who benefit from our teaching, research and social responsibility. Here, no matter what your role or responsibilities, everyone works together with one common goal.

The role is to support our postgraduate research funding processes and ensure that our students have an excellent experience and the University abides by its financial responsibilities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join our funding team, working collaboratively in accordance with good customer care principles. Alongside processing fees and stipends and acting as a first point of contact for queries, you will also support reporting on grant statements and creating student records on funding systems.

The successful candidate will bring proven experience and current knowledge of Higher Education Funding, within a customer-facing office environment. Ideally you will have experience of working with Postgraduate Research Funding administration.

We are seeking individuals who thrive in a dynamic team setting, enjoy engaging with and supporting a diverse range of people, and demonstrate a flexible, customer-focused approach.

Key attributes for this role include:

  • Strong numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills; high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills; able to prioritise and meet strict deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Team player with experience in large organisations, able to support colleagues flexibly.
  • Adaptability to evolving systems, platforms, and processes.
  • Flexible, responsive, and customer-focused, with excellent communication skills.

This is a fast-paced role that requires resilience, initiative, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in a changing environment.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments will be made on merit.
