Job Summary We have an exciting opportunity within the Research and Innovation (R&I) Office at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust for a Research and Innovation Coordinator (Band 6). This post is offered as a permanent contract at 37.5h/week. The role supports oncology research undertaken within The Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, setting up and managing hosted clinical trials against national NIHR objectives and ensuring compliance with regulatory and research governance requirements. The role also involves line‑management responsibilities for the R&I Administrators. Applicants should be qualified to at least postgraduate diploma level or have equivalent experience, and must meet the essential criteria listed in the person specification. Main duties Support the processes and management of research projects, including study set‑up and amendments, processing of research related agreements, research passports and general administrative support. Participate in quality improvement projects within the team and wider division. Maintain good knowledge of GCP and research governance requirements. Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills, working well in a team or independently. Job responsibilities (detailed) Daily Project Management Manage research projects from initial registration to final local approval. Support the Clinical Trials Resource Group by liaising with service departments to ensure project actions are progressed to conclusion. Review and update research project information in Trust systems. Plan and organise activities relating to project approvals and amendments. Maintain close communication with researchers regarding project status. R&I Systems and Processes Collate project information for registration on R&I Office systems, liaising with external authorities, funding organisations and sponsors. Ensure data meets current R&I project dataset standards. Design queries and enter data into R&I systems to run reports. Coordinate information from external organisations for validation. Ensure documentary evidence of regulatory compliance (MHRA authorisation, ethics approval, etc.). Confirm HRA approval and local/national permissions. Meetings Attend R&I divisional meetings and external meetings as required. Organise research meetings, arrange accommodation, attendance, agenda and supporting papers. Take and distribute accurate minutes. Support for Applications to Funding Assist researchers in completing documentation to support funding applications. Performance in the Role Ensure projects are approved within R&I approval timelines. Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions. Exercise sound judgement on complicated events and policy interpretation. Perform other duties as requested. People Management (where required) Day‑to‑day management and regular performance review of the senior R&I Administrator. Develop, approve and provide relevant training for the Administrator. Person Specification Essential Qualifications Postgraduate diploma level or equivalent experience. Desirable Qualifications Science postgraduate diploma. Experience working within a health care system. ECDL or equivalent. Essential Experience Experience in a busy research office environment. Experience in clinical research. Practical knowledge of the study approval process (including amendments). Essential Skills Organisational skills. Interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail. Prioritisation/time‑management skills. Desirable Skills Advanced use of Microsoft packages, especially Access. Essential Knowledge Research and research management processes. Spreadsheets and databases. Desirable Knowledge Medical terminology and patient information systems. Up‑to‑date ICH GCP. Training on Caldicott Guidelines and Data Protection. Research governance principles. Essential Values Ability to demonstrate the organisational values and behaviours. Essential Other Ability to work with minimal supervision.
