The purpose of this role is to lead AFME's policy work for traded risk and stress testing the purpose of banking regulation and supervision. 

Key Responsibilities Policy formation:
  • Leading AFME's traded risk and stress testing workstreams
  • Driving industry collaboration to develop effective market risk practices and related risk metrics like counterparty credit risk and XVA risk management methodologies (among others)
  • Leading AFME's work on prudential aspects of Securitisations
  • Monitoring and responding to legislative developments and legislative consultations in related areas
  • Responding to member queries in related areas
  • Preparation and participation in meetings with policy makers and external audience 
Analysis:
  • Analyse, assess and contextualise regulatory and supervisory requirements and proposals
  • Thought leadership in related areas
  • Identifying common industry wide positions on the challenges and solutions; 
  • Prepare and share regulatory updates for the membership on policy related to traded risk and stress testing
  • Analyse the cross-cutting interaction of proposal across the regulatory and supervisory risk and capital framework
  • Develop and contribute AFME's data and policy publications 
Teamwork
  • Work with relevant colleagues across AFME to support consistent policy positions in the field of banking regulation and supervision
  • Support team members in areas of policy which are linked to traded risks (e.g. cross-cutting regulation/supervision, Capital Markets or Securitisations Division)
  • Ensure integration of policy and advocacy work 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise The successful candidate will be leading AFME's traded risk and stress testing policy work. The successful candidate will be working with the biggest global banks and be involved in communication with high profile authorities like central banks and national and international policy making bodies. The candidate will be part of a highly skilled team of professionals. 

Key competencies
Essential
  • Relevant practical experience in risk trading, portfolio management or market risk (traded risk) management.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of legislative processes in the EU and UK. 
  • In depth knowledge of the regulatory framework for market risk in the EU and UK.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking.
  • Independent approach to work, using expertise and strong ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in committee-led work environments and proven experience in stakeholder management.
 Desirable
  • Experience in investment banking and private market funding of corporates.
  • Knowledge of asset and liability management and funding requirements.
  • Experience in group-capital management (regulatory and economic) and supervisory reviews and assessments.
  • Experience in exchanges with regulators and supervisors.
  • Experience in presenting in front senior audience.
