Recognised nationally as a leading agency, they provide therapeutic support for Children and foster parents, working collaboratively with social workers and local authorities to ensure Children are safe, recovering from trauma, and thriving in their homes.
The Role
This role is for 16-20 hours and will be predominately homebased with travel across the region.
The Supervising Social Worker builds positive relationships between Fostering agency, the Foster Parent and the child's Social Worker. It is a key role that helps the Foster Parent to sustain the child in placement and ensure outcomes for children are being met within the foster family. Crucial to successful outcomes for children are positive working relationships between all the professionals around the child, and the Supervising Social Worker role is a combination of monitoring and safeguarding on behalf of the children and being there for the family. This is a therapeutic organisation and, ideally, applicants should have experience working in a therapeutic independent service or be curious about therapeutic fostering and willing to learn.
This is a development role with the successful candidate having demonstrable experience in successfully growing a region.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Development & Recruitment:
Expand our presence in Devon, supporting prospective families from initial visits through to panel and attending recruitment events to promote the service.
Foster Family Support & Supervision:
Manage and supervise allocated foster families (including parent & child and therapeutic placements), monitor logs, identify training needs, and deliver or arrange training as required.
Compliance & Partnership Working:
Ensure foster parents understand and follow policies, attend relevant meetings and panels, maintain effective relationships with local authorities, and contribute to placement planning and review.
Professional Engagement:
Attend meetings, complete reports, take minutes, and collaborate with internal colleagues to match placements to local authority needs.
Team Contribution & Development:
Participate in the out-of-hours rota, take responsibility for your own supervision and CPD, and undertake any additional duties as directed by your line manager.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Experience in fostering, ideally gained within a therapeutic fostering setting
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Emotionally intelligent
- Self-motivated
- Positive attitude
- Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
- ICT literate (specifically Microsoft Office)
- Full UK Driving Licence & use of a vehicle
