KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Consultant in IVF and Reproductive Medicine to join our team at CREATE Fertility in Tingley, Leeds. This role is pivotal in delivering expert, high-quality and patient-centred fertility care.

As a Consultant you will be responsible for the independent management of patients, performing key fertility procedures and contributing to the ongoing success of the clinic. You will uphold the highest standards of clinical safety, patient satisfaction, and treatment outcomes, ensuring an exceptional experience for individuals and couples undergoing fertility treatment.

You will also support the continuous improvement and may be involved in training, audits and quality initiatives as directed. Including but not limited to the following:

  • Effective clinical management of patients, working collaboratively with colleagues
  • Ensure the safe and effective care of all patients
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, delivering the highest standard of care to patients
  • Availability for emergency on-call duties, weekend shifts and bank holiday rotations
  • Independently conducting consultations, ultrasound scans, egg collections, embryo transfers and other relevant procedures in line with clinic protocols
  • Participation in a rota system to ensure efficient and consistent clinical service delivery
  • Conduct regular audits of clinical practices to maintain high success rates and prevent complications or incidents
  • Contribute to the company's growth strategy by delivering exceptional care and patient outcomes
  • Work as an integral team member, contributing to the effective management and delivery of targets
  • Attend clinical and other relevant meetings, ensuring that action points are followed up
  • Participate in research, training and audit programmes to enhance clinical expertise
  • Engage in clinical and research meetings to stay updated with advancements in the field
  • Work under the guidance of the Medical Director
  • Prioritise patient satisfaction, safety and success in all aspects of care
  • Be adaptable and flexible with working hours and arrangements as needed
  • Ensure full compliance with HFEA and other regulatory standards
  • Lead or support Open Evenings as required

KEY RESULTS/KPIs

  • High Patient Satisfaction: Maintain excellent patient satisfaction and safety outcomes
  • Success Rates: Achieve and sustain target success rates for IVF treatments
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with HFEA and all other relevant regulatory standards
  • Clinical Outcomes: Minimise clinical complications and incidents through effective auditing and practice management
  • Research Contribution: Actively engage in and contribute to research and audit initiatives
  • Efficient Service Delivery: Efficiently manage on-call duties, rota commitments, and overall clinical service.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent): Essential
  • Full GMC Registration: Required, including a valid licence to practise medicine in the UK
  • MRCOG or Equivalent: Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or an equivalent qualification is essential.

SPECIALIST TRAINING

  • Proven expertise in reproductive medicine and IVF procedures, with competence in transvaginal scanning
  • Significant experience in obstetrics and gynaecology or reproductive medicine is necessary.

FURTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) or Equivalent:

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in Reproductive Medicine or IVF: Previous experience in reproductive medicine, fertility treatments, or assisted reproductive technologies (ART) is required
  • Surgical Skills: Proficiency in relevant procedures, such as ultrasound-guided egg collection and embryo transfer, is essential.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Clinical Expertise: Proficiency in managing fertility patients, conducting egg collections, embryo transfers and ultrasound scans
  • Research & Audit Skills: Experience in research and audit within the field of reproductive medicine
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, even under pressure
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent time-management and organisational skills, crucial for handling the demands of a busy IVF clinic

GOVERNANCE

The post holder will be committed to improving the quality of clinical care across all sites and will actively participate in incident reporting, risk management, and Governance Meetings.

APPRAISAL

The consultant will be expected to undergo annual appraisals conducted by the Medical Director or other designated consultants. The appraisal process will also be part of the information used to revalidate Consultants by the GMC.

GMC REVALIDATION

The role requires full compliance with GMC revalidation guidelines and participation in the revalidation scheme. This includes the annual completion of mandatory appraisals and adherence to GMC revalidation requirements.

AUDIT

The post holder will actively participate in clinical audits and be expected to initiate and supervise audit projects aligned with their areas of interest.
