Newsweek is seeking a US News Reporter to join our UK-based digital newsroom, producing fast,
accurate
, and original coverage of U.S. politics, current affairs, and culture. The
y
will contribute
to original
stories
each
day—
leveraging
generative AI and automation tools responsibly to enhance speed and quality—while applying strong editorial judgment, rigorous fact-checking, and an understanding of media law.
Reporting to the News Editor,
the
US News Reporter
will source, pitch, research, and develop stories that include
originals, exclusives, interviews,
breaking news,
and
live blogs
.
Reporters will obtain on-the-record statements from credible sources and
prominent
subject-matter experts. They will add depth to their coverage by
analysing
relevant data and documentation. Their reporting will be further elevated through the integration of multimedia elements.
T
hey will actively
monitor
a range of sources and platforms to
identify
emerging stories and discussions of interest to a U.S. audience.
The U.S. News Reporter
will
be responsible for
ensuring high-quality coverage that is
accurate
, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism. They will perform any other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
This is a full-time role,
working
Tuesday to Saturday
from 7am to 4pm.
Our office is based in
London,
but you will have the ability to work from home anywhere in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce multiple
articl
es daily, including AI‑assisted
stori
es, to a high editorial standard.
Pitch original ideas and develop exclusives: secure expert/source quotes, obtain documents/data, and advance stories.
Respond quickly to breaking news; contribute to live blogs during major events.
Apply sound editorial judgment and rigorous fact-checking to ensure accuracy, fairness, clarity, and journalistic integrity.
Leverage AI and automation tools to boost reporting efficiency (research support, drafting
assistance
, transcript/translation, timelines), while editing and verifying all outputs.
Collaborate with editors, visuals, and audience teams to package stories with graphics, images, video, and embeds.
Ensure Newsweek delivers high-quality reporting that is
accurate
, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism.
