KYP are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Deputy Manager at Little Gems Nursery (Rated 'Good' by Ofsted)

KYP is a leading community organisation (est and an independent charity dedicated to the development and economic regeneration of the communities of Rochdale through the provision of a variety of services. This role requires you to work with children aged 0-5 years, providing a stimulating and nurturing environment. You will need at least 3 years working experience in a childcare setting with a minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification. This position is term time only with a pro rata salary.

What does a Deputy Manager at Little Gems do?

The DM works closely with the nursery manager, providing day-to-day operational support of the nursery. You will help to ensure that the nursery is being run effectively and to the highest possible standards.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Act as SENCO

Ensuring safeguarding, EYFS and children's needs are at the forefront of everything you do.

Helping to recruit, train and manage staff

Assisting the manager with planning and organisation

Ensuring the nursery is compliant with Ofsted guidelines

Communicating with parents/carers

Supporting and liaising between staff and the manager

Covering for the manager if they are absent

Ability to stay calm under pressure

Problem-solving skills

You're also expected to have a solid understanding of the EYFS curriculum and Ofsted standards.

What qualifications are needed to be a deputy nursery manager at Little Gems?

  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Minimum Childcare Level 3 qualification
  • At least 3 years' experience in a childcare setting.
