RoleBackground

We are seeking a Community Wellbeing Worker to deliver support that empowers children and young people (CYP) facing social, emotional, and mental wellbeing challenges. This role focuses on providing one-to-one support both in-person and through various channels, across education, community, acute and youth justice settings. We are looking for an individual with a proven track record in engaging CYP and a passion for mental health.

Role Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to join our children and young peoples (CYP) team and contribute to the growth and delivery of our innovative mental health services. As a Community Wellbeing Worker, you will provide responsive, one-to-one support to children and young people aged 519 (or up to 25 with additional needs), empowering them to improve their emotional and mental wellbeing.

Grounded in a child-led and trauma-informed approach, you will work flexibly across a range of settingsincluding schools, community hubs, acute care, and youth justice servicesto meet young people where they are. You will play a key role in building trusting relationships, reducing barriers to support, and enabling young people to navigate challenges with greater confidence, resilience, and self-awareness

Role Outcomes

  • Actively support and promote all aspects of the service and enhance the public image of Bradford District and Craven Mind, including supporting promotional events and community fundraising.
  • Work effectively with, and support coworkers, attend and contribute to team meetings.
  • Participate in reflective supervision and development opportunities and processes, including appraisals and training related to the role.
  • Work in alignment with the aims, objectives, and core values of BDC Mind.
  • Be familiar with and take responsibility, with colleagues, for ensuring that all Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Information Governance and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion requirements are met, and all other Company policies complied with.

Experience

Essential:

  • Practical experience of working with children, young people in a health, social care or any other relevant setting.
  • Experience of supporting people in a clear, meaningful and non-judgemental way either via telephone or in person.
  • Experienced and confident in managing challenging situations and recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

  • Excellent proven written, verbal and non-verbal communication and organisational skills, including an ability to encourage and engage people in ways to make positive changes in their lives.
  • Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft packages
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work alone and use own initiative
  • Ability to gather relevant information to support and assess risks

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in a relevant field
  • Understanding of the key issues within mental health, and the potential challenges that people may face
  • Knowledge of other relevant health & social care organisations across the Bradford District & Craven
  • Knowledge of risk management and health and safety issues
  • Understanding of safeguarding and good practice
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
