Relief Chef Manager – South London and Surrounding Counties

Location: South London and surrounding counties

Contract: 43 weeks per year (term time only)

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (no weekends or late nights)

Salary: Highly competitive

Are you a passionate and creative Chef Manager ready to make a real impact in school catering? We're looking for an experienced Relief Chef Manager to join our growing team, overseeing multiple school sites across South London and the surrounding counties.

In this exciting role, you'll take full operational and financial responsibility for our school catering services — leading teams to deliver exceptional food and service while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You'll inspire your teams to create nutritious, freshly prepared meals using sustainable ingredients, while driving innovation and engagement through seasonal menus and special events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and motivate catering teams to deliver consistently excellent dining experiences
  • Prepare and oversee high-quality, nutritious meals made from fresh ingredients
  • Manage all aspects of catering operations, including food, stock, and labour costs
  • Develop menus, implement promotions, and drive sales across sites
  • Ensure full compliance with company systems, procedures, and food safety legislation
  • Build strong, positive relationships with clients, students, and staff

About You:

  • A natural leader with strong team management and communication skills
  • Proven experience in a catering management role, ideally within education or contract catering
  • Craft-based culinary background with a passion for fresh, seasonal food
  • Financial awareness, with experience managing budgets and achieving targets
  • Knowledge of health and safety and food hygiene regulations
  • OND or HND qualification (preferred)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential, as travel is required)
