Chaigeley School are seeking a strategic, dedicated, and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our committed staff team. This pivotal role involves the strategic development and day-to-day operation of our school's SEND policy and provision. The successful candidate will ensure that special educational provision secures the best possible outcomes for all pupils with complex SEMH needs and EHCPs across KS2, 3, and 4, preparing them for a successful transition to adulthood.
Key Responsibilities
The SENCo has day-to-day responsibility for operating the school's SEN policy and coordinating specific provision for individual pupils with SEN, including those with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans. They also play an important role with the Principal and governing body in determining the strategic development of SEN policy and provision.
The SENCo will provide professional guidance to colleagues, manage the resources and deployment of support staff, and rigorously monitor the effectiveness of interventions. They will champion inclusive practice and actively promote the school's ISHARE values: Independence, Self Regulation, Honesty, Acceptance, Relationships, and Emotional Intelligence.
This role requires expertise in coordinating statutory requirements for pupils with EHCPs, particularly those with secondary needs such as ASD, ADHD, Sensory Processing Difficulties, and Communication Interaction Difficulties
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated teacher with significant experience in managing complex SEND, particularly SEMH and associated needs, and possess a comprehensive understanding of the SEND Code of Practice They must be resilient, flexible, and hard-working, committed to promoting the ethos of our caring and loving school
