Key roles and responsibilities

  • To be in control of multiple sections
  • To be capable of doing basic management tasks.
  • To supervise and ensure the smooth and efficient service of food from the section by working and liaising with other sections of the kitchen and dining room staff at all times. From time to time this may require you to run the section on your own.
  • To plan, prepare and present dishes in line with recipes and specifications every day.
  • To control wastage by maintaining the correct stock levels & rotation from dry stores to refrigeration, so as to ensure that profit margins are maintained
  • To bring to the attention of the Head Chef any ideas for new dishes that you feel would enhance the offer and the menu
  • To ensure all work areas of the kitchen, dry stores and refrigeration are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition at all times and especially after your shift has finished.
  • To maintain constant quality control of all food prepared and cooked ensuring it is to the Head Chefs' and restaurant standards.

Required Skills & competencies

· You have worked in a similar role for at least 2 years

· You have experience of working in and running a busy, high turnover kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

· Kitchen volume management is an area that you have substantial experience in.

· You have excellent knowledge of kitchen operations including health and safety regulations, (you hold an intermediate / advanced food hygiene certificate), food safety auditing systems and employment law.

· You have a positive attitude and are able to proactively manage staff, adapting your approach to suit both busy and quiet times.

· You work intelligently under pressure and lead by example, always ready with a hands-on approach where necessary.

· You have experience of working with food stock management systems and are IT literate.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From £13.50 per hour
