About The Role...
We are looking to recruit for an Assistant Management Accountant to be based form our Customer Support Centre in Walsall. The role will work on a hybrid basis with flexibility to work from home two days per week.

The Assistant Management Accountant will support the Finance team in the preparation and delivery of month-end management accounts for Fixed Assets. This position involves responsibility for specific areas of both the profit and loss account and the balance sheet, with the expectation to produce and present accurate monthly results to the senior Finance team.

Your Impact And Responsibilities…
As Assistant Management Accountant, you will:

• Assist with the preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual financial reporting for Fixed Assets for Poundland.
• Act as the custodian of the Fixed Assets Register, ensuring accuracy and completeness of asset records.
• Record and manage asset additions, disposals, and transfers across four asset books within Oracle.
• Perform regular reconciliations of the Fixed Asset Register to the General Ledger, ensuring data integrity and alignment.
• Maintain robust financial controls related to fixed assets, ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
• Assist the Finance team in compiling month-end capital expenditure (Capex) reports and variance analysis.
• Responsible for the month-end closure of fixed asset registers, including investigation and explanation of depreciation forecast and budget variances.
• Prepare and submit reports to the Office for National Statistics and fulfil other external reporting obligations as required.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing accurate documentation and timely responses to financial queries.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve financial processes, enhance controls, and drive operational efficiencies.

Skills And Knowledge…
We are looking for someone with:

• Strong experience in a finance or accounting role. Previous experience of Fixed Asset accounting would be highly advantageous.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced and commercial environment.
• Experience in preparing management accounts or supporting the month-end close process.
• A good understanding of financial and management accounting principles.
• Knowledge of core accounting processes, including month-end close, journal postings, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Familiarity with financial systems (Oracle Fusion, or similar ERP systems) and strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, basic formulas).
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and explain financial data clearly.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work.
• Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
