Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and experienced person to provide deputy home management at our Ammanford-based Care Home which supports young people in looked after care.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about transforming the lives of young people and demonstrate a passion and commitment for personal and professional growth.
This is a pathway role to becoming Registered Home Manager in time. As such a Level 5 QCF Residential Childcare would be preferred, however a minimum of Level 3 is a minimum requirement with an expectation that the Level 5 is completed beforehand.
This role involves working closely to the Statement of Purpose, maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements, whilst creating a life changing environment for our young people.
The home provides accommodation, care and support services for CYP who may have had traumatic upbringing resulting in behaviour that challenges. We are looking for a resilient, caring individual who prioritises the safety and well-being of our young people.
Young people will be 8 – 17 years old, in looked after care, with a range of support needs which may include behavioural, intellectual, physical, and sensory.
Responsibilities
- Deputy management of day-to-day operations within the care home, always ensuring the welfare of staff and children
- Building a safe, positive and preventative environment, in which staff and children are heard, understood and supported
- Deliver and oversee the highest standards of care and support. You will be part of the staffing rota and part of the staffing ratio for our young people, required to provide all support as per care plan and statement of purpose.
- Support the Registered Home Manager by leading the senior and care team; set work rotas, provide supervision and coaching, ensure all training is attained, ensure high-quality care is delivered consistently.
- Develop, implement, and review individual care plans tailored to each child's needs, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development. Ensure that each plan represents the Childs individuality.
- Administer medication as prescribed and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Foster an empowering environment for children, encouraging their participation in decisions and activities that involve them, and relate to their personal growth
- Ensuring the highest level of safety and safeguarding for staff and children
- Collaborate with Local Authority and healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies
- Monitor the wellbeing of children in the facility, addressing any concerns promptly and appropriately
- Continuous improve the way in which our home operates, to maximise best outcomes for staff and opportunities for children
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience within residential childcare, social work, or an assisted living setting (Essential)
- Strong understanding of child development and safeguarding practices (Essential)
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act and Regulations (Essential)
- Administering and documentation of various forms of Medication (Essential).
- Experience of building a culture of Positive Behaviour Management and/or other best practices in CYP care environments (Essential)
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively while promoting a positive workplace culture. (Essential)
- Food safety (Essential)
- Understanding of de-escalation and diffusion practices (Essential)
- Working with and delivering to Care Plans (Essential)
- Build a positive workplace culture that encourages teamwork, professional development, and high standards of care (Essential).
- Working with young people with physical, sensory, or learning disabilities, and/or autism spectrum disorder (Desirable)
- Effective communication with residents, external agencies regarding care services and resident needs (Desirable).
- Assessment of resident health and well-being, making necessary adjustments to care plans as required (Desirable).
- Maintain accurate records of resident care, staff performance, and facility operations (Essential)
