Overview

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and proactive Support Workers to join FIRS Home Care in providing personalised, high-quality support to a 39-year-old Female adult living with Epilepsy and supported by a Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) device.

This role focuses on promoting independence, wellbeing, and meaningful participation in everyday life. You will support the individual both at home and within the community, encouraging confidence, safety, and engagement in a wide range of activities.

Personalised Care & Epilepsy Support

  • Provide safe, appropriate support for a person with Epilepsy, including following seizure management plans.
  • Understand and respond to the needs related to a VNS system, including awareness of triggers, protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, medication prompts, and maintaining routines.

Meaningful Activities & Community Access

  • Support the individual to take part in meaningful, enjoyable activities both at home and in the community.
  • Encourage and facilitate participation in social groups, clubs, festivals, events, and hobbies.
  • Promote independence and confidence through person-centred planning and choice.
  • Provide support with travel, accessing public transport, or driving if applicable.

Household & Daily Living Support

  • Assist with domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and general household organisation.
  • Support the individual to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment.

Documentation & Professional Practice

  • Maintain clear, accurate records including daily notes, seizure logs, incident reports, and support plans.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management procedures.
  • Work in partnership with family members, healthcare professionals, and the wider support team.

Shift Work & Sleep-In Duties

  • Work flexibly across a rota that includes day shifts, evening shifts, weekends, and sleep-in nights.
  • Provide reassurance and overnight monitoring as required during sleep-ins.
  • Respond appropriately during any night-time emergencies or seizure activity.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
