We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to join our Highways team as a Operational Highways Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role and make a real impact on the ground in delivering the highways service across Rutland. About the role...
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Operational Highways Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of our highways maintenance and improvement programmes. This is a key operational role, ensuring our roads and infrastructure assets are safe, well-maintained, and responsive to the needs of our communities.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Manage the delivery of highways maintenance, reactive repairs, and improvement schemes.
- Lead operational teams and contractors to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service delivery.
- Oversee inspections, asset management, and compliance with safety standards.
- Respond to emergencies and severe weather events, coordinating resources effectively.
- Monitor performance, budgets, and service outcomes.
- Work closely with internal teams, elected members, and the public to resolve issues and improve customer satisfaction.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met across all operational activities.
As the Operational Highways Manager, you'll be a hands-on leader with a strong background in highways operations and service delivery. You'll bring:
- Proven experience in highways maintenance, civil engineering, or infrastructure operations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and health & safety regulations.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.
- Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent experience.
The Operational Highways Manager interviews will be held on 02 December 2025. Please be advised this could be subject to change, in which case we will give appropriate notice.
