An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our esteemed NHS client's dynamic team based in Dunfermline, Fife. This position is available for an immediate start on a short-term contract, offering competitive rates.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments of older adults' mental health and social care needs, determining the urgency of new referrals, and agreeing on the most appropriate course of action. You will act as the Care Co-ordinator, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and co-ordination of evidence-based care for individuals affected by mental health issues. You will oversee and manage clinical risks by carrying out clinical risk assessments and mitigating risks with person-centred care plans. Additionally, you will provide support, education, and clinical supervision to the wider Community Services teams, and offer specialist supervision, training, and consultation to colleagues. Active participation in service developments, including the use of service user feedback and in-house training, will be expected. You will contribute to the development of care pathways and other treatment protocols, liaise effectively with other professionals and agencies, and provide leadership to the team on a shift-by-shift basis, promoting and maintaining high standards of care in a community setting. You will also effectively communicate with neurodiverse individuals and their families, as well as internal and external staff, and produce high-quality, detailed reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Psychiatry.
  • Full registration with the appropriate professional body.
  • Expertise in geriatric mental health.
  • A high level of clinical skills as evidenced by peer review and reports.
  • Evidence of incorporating core values of commitment, trust, integrity, and kindness into their work with others.
  • Willingness to work flexibly across a range of clinic models, venues, and days of the week.
  • Good communication skills and level of IT literacy.
  • An interest to advance professionally as evidenced by attendance and contribution to reflective practice meetings, reliability meetings, and/or other CPD events within their professional clinical practice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
