Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Preschool assistant as a bank cover, to provide ad hoc cover sometimes at short notice. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and possess strong management and leadership skills. This role offers an opportunity to create a nurturing environment that supports children's developmental needs while fostering their curiosity and love for learning. The successful applicant will be responsible for engaging with activities, ensuring the safety of all children, and promoting positive behaviour in a supportive setting.

Duties

  • support and implement age-appropriate activates that align with curriculum standards and individual children's needs.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment conducive to learning and social development.
  • Manage daily classroom activities, including organising educational games, arts and crafts, and storytime sessions.
  • Work with staff and give update to them and managers as needed.
  • Supervise children during playtime, meals, naps, and outdoor activities to ensure safety at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behaviour, and any concerns that may arise.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, behavioural incidents, and developmental milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the nursery environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with early childhood education best practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working with children in a nursery or early childhood setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development stages.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Childcare qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Early Years or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience with nursery management systems is advantageous.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: From £12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 30 per week
