Role Profile: Fleet Engineer / Contract Manager

Position Title: Relationship Manager / Contract Manager

Reports To: Head of Sales & Operations (or equivalent)

Salary Range: £45,000 to £52,000 (possible OTE up to £100,000)

Location: Oldbury (hybrid) - 28 Stone Street, Oldbury, West Midlands, B69 4JL

As fleet engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the high Standards MAX Fleet customers have become accustomed too are kept, you will be required to build on the great customer relationship we already have and further develop our customer base.

Purpose of the Role

To lead and manage customer relationships across the vehicle maintenance & repair sector, ensuring excellent service delivery, customer retention, and contract growth. This role will act as the bridge between clients and operational teams—building trust, solving problems proactively, and driving sustainable new business opportunities while upholding our people-centric values.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Relationship & Retention

• Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
• Proactively engage with customers through regular reviews, feedback sessions, and site visits.
• Build long-term, trusted relationships based on transparency, reliability, and added value.
• Monitor service levels and resolve customer issues swiftly, working closely with the operations team.

Contract & Commercial Management

• Oversee customer contracts end-to-end, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and operational standards.
• Negotiate renewals and variations to maximise retention and profitability.
• Support the preparation of commercial proposals and tenders for new and existing customers.
• Track financial and operational KPIs within customer contracts to ensure sustainable performance.

New Business Development

• Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and across the wider sector.
• Work with the sales team to target and secure new contracts.
• Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer forums to expand market presence.

Operational Collaboration

• Partner with internal teams (dispatch, repair technicians, customer service, finance) to ensure service excellence.
• Champion customer needs while balancing operational feasibility and profitability.
• Provide insight and feedback to improve processes, systems, and service delivery.

People & Behavioural Leadership

• Must be HGV NVQ Level or higher / or equivalent with a proven background
