The Role

We are looking for a hard-working, proactive team player to join our operations team. You'll have a great eye for detail, a good sense of humour and the ability to remain precise while working under pressure and to tight deadlines.

This role would suit someone with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the courier / transport / logistics / freight industry – whether that's been as a driver, in operations, or in import/export / freight forwarding.

Main Responsibilities

· Liaise with clients, drivers and suppliers via phone, email and face to face.

· Calculating which vehicle to allocate, using weights and dimensions

· Efficient route planning for our vehicles

· Ensure a high level of attention to detail so customers receive a seamless service and drivers are fully aware of their instructions.

· Take bookings, send quotes and allocate jobs to drivers.

· Use IT systems confidently and be willing to learn and adapt to new systems and software.

· Update clients and systems with job status, costs, PODs and other key information.

· Carry out general office and administrative duties as required.

· Carry out some basic warehouse duties (stock counts, labelling, palletising).

· Undertake occasional driving duties – you MUST be able to drive a Luton van with tail lift.

· Learn quickly and retain information – an excellent memory is important.

· Handle out-of-hours calls when necessary (on a rota basis).

Requirements

· Minimum 2 years' experience within the courier / transport / logistics / freight industry (office-based and/or as a driver).

· Previous experience in a fast-paced environment is highly beneficial.

· 5-year checkable work history.

· DBS check will be required.

· Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points for insurance purposes and no previous bans).

· Must live within approximately 15 miles of Heathrow Airport.

· Right to work in the UK.
