We are currently recruiting for a Trusts & Grants Executive to join our team. This is an exciting role within the Philanthropy & Partnerships team which will help the Trust to deliver significant growth in income. This role supports the Senior Partnerships Manager in strategic growth and income generation, focusing on expanding relationships with trusts, foundations, and other grant-making bodies.

A key part of the role will involve identifying and maintaining a personal portfolio of small to medium trusts, overseeing grant processes including reporting, and ensuring compliance with funding procedures to enhance the team's efficiency and accountability.

This role will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces for team working and collaborative meetings. Hubs we can assign to you include Leeds, Ellesmere Port, Burnley, Newark, Birmingham, Hatton, Milton Keynes, Gloucester & London. The regularity & flexibility of travel will be discussed further at interview stage.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in developing and delivering the growth strategy for the Partnership team's income.
  • Cultivate and expand a pipeline of both existing and new charitable trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies, securing a diverse range of funding opportunities.
  • Develop a grant fundraising calendar that outlines application deadlines and reporting. dates, supporting relationship management with grant-giving organisations.
  • Identify, cultivate, and develop a personal a portfolio of trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies, producing high-quality proposals, applications, and reports for submission.
  • Ensure all approval, grant receipt, and reporting processes are adhered to by the team.
  • Provide administrative support to the team
  • Display the Trust values and behaviours at all times.
  • Ensure that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life and promoting inclusion by challenging behaviour, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust's policies and values

Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven experience of working within a fundraising team in a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience of researching charitable trusts and developing fundraising pipeline plans.
  • Experience of developing high quality proposals and/or stewardship reports to donors.
  • Experience of effectively using a CRM system for fundraising.
  • Experience of fundraising in the Heritage or Environment sector is desirable.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and strong attention to detail.
  • Motivated by the cause of the Canal & River Trust.
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise multiple tasks, work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Positive team player with a professional, solution focused attitude.
  • IT literate and numerate.
