With a strong legacy of innovation, quality, and customer focus, we continue to shape the future of the rapidly expanding private label market.Join us and become part of a dynamic, fast-growing team committed to operational excellence.Role OverviewAs a Machine Operative, you will play a vital role in the end-to-end production process — from accurately weighing raw materials to packing and palletising finished goods. You will operate high-speed production machinery, maintain exceptional quality standards, and drive efficiency while minimising waste. The role requires strict adherence to Health & Safety, BRC standards, and a strong commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and high-performing production environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction OperationsOperate high-speed machinery safely and efficiently, completing all tasks to maximise output and minimise waste.Carry out key functions (to be defined by line managers), such as:Accurate weighing and cross-checking of ingredientsPicking and allocation tasksUse of systems such as SAGE (as required)Follow Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure right-first-time production.Perform daily machine safety checks and act promptly on any issues.Maintain high standards of cleanliness through a strict "clean as you go" approach.Complete all required production, hygiene, and quality documentation accurately and on time.Quality, Health, Safety & EnvironmentWork in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and all related safety legislation.Maintain personal and team hygiene in line with BRC and internal standards.Support continuous improvement of 5S, safety, and quality standards.Lead and contribute to quality assurance initiatives to maintain consistent product standards.Ensure waste reduction processes and environmental guidelines are followed.Performance & Continuous ImprovementContribute to achieving production KPIs for output, waste, quality, and efficiency.Participate in daily performance meetings and use OEE and other data tools effectively.Collaborate with Planning, Blending, Production, and Warehouse teams to maximise workflow efficiency.Engage in Lean Six Sigma activities, including:5S improvementsSMED initiativesAutonomous maintenanceProblem-solving on basic processing/machine issuesCreating and updating SOPs for assigned machines/areasTeamworkSupport a high-performing team environment through effective communication and collaboration.Assist in shift handovers to ensure consistent performance across teams.Contribute to ongoing development of team capability.Attitude & BehavioursDemonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach to meeting business needs.Show willingness to take on additional responsibilities and support other departments when required.Uphold company values and maintain a positive, solutions-focused attitude.Attendance & TimekeepingMaintain strong attendance (>96.5%) and punctuality (100%).Learning & DevelopmentEmbrace continuous learning and seek opportunities to develop skills.Welcome constructive feedback and show commitment to self-development.FlexibilityAdapt readily to changing priorities and operational demands.Support cross-departmental work when required to maintain production effectiveness.Key Performance IndicatorsUnderstanding of departmental and operational KPIs.Demonstrated contribution to delivering production targets (output, waste, efficiency, quality).Clear communication of daily plans and expectations at the start of each shift.This role is located in Blackpool (FY4) - please only apply if you are within a commutable distance or willing to relocate.  THG is proud to be a Disability Confident Committed employer.
