We have an exciting role on offer within our Holly Lodge Children's home as a Residential Support Worker.
Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people? We are looking for compassionate, curious, and resilient individuals to join our children's residential services at Middlesbrough Council. This is more than a job, it's an opportunity to build trusting relationships, provide safety and stability, and help young people heal and thrive.
Working in residential care is a deeply rewarding role. It's a profession that values empathy, creativity, and connection, with clear pathways for career progression. If you believe every child deserves to feel safe, understood, and valued, this could be the role for you.
What we offer:
Regular reflective supervision to support your wellbeing and practice.
Annual appraisals and opportunities for growth.
Local Government Pension Scheme.
Sick pay and generous annual leave (with options to purchase more).
A comprehensive training programme, including trauma-informed and PACE approaches.
Clear career development pathways.
What we're looking for:
NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare or willingness to work towards.
Experience working with children and young people.
Understanding of child development and the impact of trauma.
Ability to respond with Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE).
A restorative, relationship-based approach to supporting children.
Enthusiasm and motivation to make a positive difference.
Experience supervising staff is desirable.
You'll work as part of a team providing 24/7 care in a safe, nurturing environment. This includes evenings, weekends, sleep-in shifts, and bank holidays. You'll use curiosity and empathy to understand behaviour, build trust, and help young people feel safe and valued. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.
