Remote, United Kingdom Ramcare Ltd Full time £45,000 - £49,861 per year

About Ramcare

Ramcare is a UK leader in process control instrumentation and wireless/environmental monitoring solutions. We design, supply, install, commission, and maintain high-accuracy monitoring systems across multiple industries. With UKAS accreditation and ISO 17025-compliant calibration services, we support customers with state-of-the-art wireless monitoring, control equipment, and comprehensive service and maintenance programs.

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Environment Monitoring Systems Engineer to combine technical field work, sales operations, and customer-focused technical support.

This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering — including calibration, commissioning, and system servicing — while also supporting customers through product guidance, solution design, and on-site or remote sales opportunities.

You will visit customer sites throughout the UK to perform UKAS-compliant calibrations of environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, CO₂, pressure, electrical simulation, and more), carry out installations and commissioning of new monitoring systems, and provide technical support to end users.

Alongside technical duties, you will help support sales operations by identifying customer needs, recommending monitoring solutions, and assisting with product quotations or system upgrades.

Overnight stays and significant travel are part of the normal rhythm of the job.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Field Engineering

  • Perform UKAS-accredited calibrations of environmental and process control sensors in accordance with ISO 17025.
  • Install, commission, and service wireless/environmental monitoring systems and associated control equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and verify the performance of monitoring hardware and software.
  • Produce calibration certificates and service documentation using Microsoft Excel.
  • Maintain equipment records and contribute to internal quality system procedures.

Sales Operations & Technical Support

  • Provide front-line technical support to customers for system operation, alarms, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with product demonstrations, system walk-throughs, and feature explanations.
  • Identify sales opportunities during site visits (e.g., system expansions, upgrades, consumables).
  • Support the sales team with technical input for quotations and solution proposals.
  • Build strong customer relationships with a service-driven, consultative approach.

Skills & Experience (Ideal)

Experience in any combination of the following is highly desirable:

Technical Skills

  • On-site calibration work
  • Field service engineering
  • Installation & commissioning of process control or wireless monitoring systems
  • Fault-finding and repairs on instrumentation or monitoring equipment
  • Working within UKAS or ISO-accredited environments (ISO 17025, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001)

Sales/Customer-Facing Skills

  • Customer-focused technical support
  • Solution-based selling or identifying customer needs
  • Communication of technical concepts to non-technical users

IT Competency

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (required for calibration certificates)
  • Confident with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Comfortable learning and supporting monitoring software platforms

Qualifications

One of the following:

  • HNC or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Control Systems preferred)
  • Apprenticeship route such as NVQ Level 5 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control, or Automation
