Job description:

Job Title: Business Controls Advisor
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: London
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based
Closing date: 23rd November 2025

Join us at Royal London Asset Management as our Business Controls Advisor, where you will support our COO team and wider business with risk and control assurance.

You'll assist Senior Control Advisors to manage risk events and make sure risk best practice is embedded across key areas such as Operations, Data, Technology, Projects, and Business Consultancy.

You'll also work closely with other parts of the business, shadowing experienced colleagues and collaborating with teams in the Front Office, Client Group, Finance, and other support functions when cross-functional tasks need COO input.

This is a development role, designed to grow into a position where you work independently as a trusted business partner, helping to improve processes and strengthen the firm's capabilities. Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn are essential.

About the role

•    Help implement and embed RL's Risk Management Framework across the COO function.

•    Identify, resolve and escalate any new risks or issues.

•    Lead on improving the Team's current MI and reporting capability, with the purpose of ensuring risk or control related issues are being appropriately monitored.

•    Support the Head of COO Business Services and other senior stakeholders, with ad-hoc risk and controls data related requests.

•    Support the Team in managing controls assurance and oversight and other oversight activity as required throughout the year.

•    Help incorporate business resilience related activity into risk related MI and reporting, as directed by the Team's Resilience Lead.

About you

•    Basic understanding of risk management

•    Experience of working within a regulated, controls-focussed environment.

•    Enthusiastic about working in an asset manager and gaining broad exposure across the business, particularly RLAM's COO Function.

•    Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

•    Good analytical skills including analysing trends and an interest in how to best visualise/present data.

•    Basic understanding of Excel and willingness to learn about and work with new data visualisation software is essential (e.g. Power BI, Power Platform/Apps, etc).

•    Drive and resilience, a calm, professional approach with the flexibility needed to juggle multiple responsibilities at once.

•    Able to work effectively both as part of a team or individually, both performing and reviewing work.

•    Adaptive to change/positive attitude towards organisational change and the confidence to suggest new ideas.

•    Good approach to problem solving and ability to work to tight deadlines is a must.
