Job Summary

GP Pathfinders is recruiting a General Practitioner under the NHS England Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme. We are seeking a clinician with strong clinical skills and a collaborative approach to join our Primary Care Network. The post supports improved access, continuity, population-health work, and wider service transformation across our practices.

You'll work closely with clinical pharmacists, care coordinators, paramedics, social prescribers, and physician associates to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

ARRS Eligibility Requirement

Under the ARRS rules, the GP must meet both conditions at the start of employment:

  • Be within two years of their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) issued by the GMC
  • Must not have held a substantive GP role previously

Main Duties of the Role

Clinical Care

  • Provide high-quality consultations for acute, chronic, and preventive care
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately
  • Support and supervise ARRS colleagues where required
  • Contribute to PCN programmes including enhanced access, long-term condition pathways, and health-inequality work
  • Participate in audits, prescribing reviews, QOF, and PCN DES activity
  • Offer telephone, video, and face-to-face consultations
  • Apply NICE guidance and evidence-based practice
  • Promote prevention, self-care, and patient education
  • Support urgent and emergency cases within the practice
  • Carry out home visits where clinically appropriate

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Support PCN population-health and integrated-care objectives
  • Work across practices when needed to ensure equitable access
  • Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team for coordinated care
  • Attend clinical meetings, case reviews, and governance sessions

Quality and Compliance

  • Follow all required policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Maintain clear and timely clinical records
  • Take part in quality-improvement projects, audits, and service reviews

Training and Professional Development

  • Maintain GMC registration through ongoing CPD
  • Engage in appraisals and peer reviews
  • Support education and development within the practice and PCN
  • Contribute to service-development work aligned with PCN priorities

Infection Prevention and Control

All staff must complete induction and refresher training in line with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and apply this within daily practice.

Person Specification - Essential

Experience

  • CCT in General Practice issued within the last two years
  • No previous substantive GP post
