As our Finance Manager, you'll manage all things financial here at home—working with our board—while also helping shape the future of our international expansion. From financial reporting and cost accounting to creating business cases for overseas ventures, this is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on variety and challenge.

Company Overview

We are a UK-based engineering business operating in the rotating electrical equipment sector. With a turnover of £6 million, a team of 50 staff, and a 3,000m² facility, we serve a wide range of industrial and commercial clients. As we enter an exciting phase of international growth—via startup ventures and potential acquisitions—we're seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee our UK financial operations and lead the financial planning for our expansion strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Core Finance & Accounting (UK Business)

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations supported by part qualified financial assistant.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow.
  • Manage payroll, VAT, HMRC compliance, and liaise with external accountants/auditors.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and systems.
  • Lead monthly management accounts and board-level financial reporting.

Strategic & International Expansion Support

  • Develop robust financial models and investment cases for international ventures (startup or acquisition).
  • Support due diligence on potential overseas acquisitions or JV partners.
  • Create budgets and forecasts aligned with strategic growth goals.
  • Provide cost accounting analysis to support operational decisions.

Essential Qualifications/experience required:

3-5 years' experience in a similar finance role.

  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in manufacturing, engineering or industrial sectors.
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented; capable of both strategy and execution.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Excel-based modelling.
  • Experience in international business planning or cross-border finance is desirable.

Salary and Benefits:

  • competitive salary upto £52k - dependant on experience
  • 6 month probation period
  • annual profit share bonus scheme, subject to company performance

  • 4xsalary death in service benefit scheme (eligible after 3 months service)
  • 5% employer pension contribution (eligible after 3 months service, however option to opt in from Day 1)
