Our client has an enviable record of building award winning design-led developments across the South East for over 20 years. Due to expansion, they are looking for an experienced Manager to lead and inspire their technical function, driving design quality, efficiency, and innovation from land acquisition through to project completion.
The Role
As a key member of the senior management team, you'll oversee all technical aspects of the division — from site evaluation and architectural design to engineering and construction delivery. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the developments are technically robust, commercially viable, and delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical leadership across multiple housing and mixed-use projects.
- Motivate, mentor, and develop a high-performing Technical team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the preparation and management of all technical documentation, drawings, and reports in line with agreed programmes.
- Work closely with Land, Commercial, and Construction teams to ensure developments are deliverable, cost-effective, and compliant.
- Manage external consultants, ensuring quality and timeliness of design and engineering information.
- Monitor budgets and forecasts, ensuring technical operations align with company procedures and financial goals.
- Advise senior leadership on technical risk, design innovation, and site viability.
- Report regularly to the Managing Director on progress, opportunities, and challenges.
About You
- Proven track record at senior level within the housebuilding or residential development industry — ideally as a
Head of Technical
or
Technical Director
. - Strong understanding of
Building Regulations, Planning, CDM, NHBC/LABC standards
, and all related construction legislation. - Confident in managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and commercial mindset
