Volunteer: Grant Proposal Review

Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom African Development Choices Full time £20,000 - £60,000 per year

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.

Our organization is searching for an experienced grant writer to assist our team in reviewing a grant proposal and making updates. To implement this grant writing project, we'll need two meetings with a volunteer. In our first meeting, we will provide you with a copy and review the application draft with you. We'll align on expectations and agree on the project timeline. Next, you'll review our document using the track changes function checking for inconsistencies and continuity errors, and creates a list of recommended changes to share with us. The project will conclude after up to two rounds of edits which the volunteer will make the agreed-upon changes to the document.

Through working with our organization on this project, the volunteer will support our mission by helping us secure the funding needed to expand our impact in Africa. African Development Choices (ADC) empowers communities to make informed, evidence-based decisions about water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), and other essential public services. By improving access to these basic needs, we promote health, dignity, education, and sustainable development. A carefully reviewed and compelling grant proposal will strengthen our chances of winning critical funding for projects like the Nyansakia II Primary School WASH initiative in Kenya—bringing clean water, safe sanitation, and inclusive facilities to 800 students, including children with disabilities. Your expertise as a grant reviewer will ensure our proposal is clear, persuasive, and competitive—helping ADC unlock the resources required to improve lives and create long-term, community-driven change across Africa.

We have a dedicated team member for the project who will provide you with the document that needs to be reviewed in an easily shareable format. (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc.) We'll also send you the proposal and application guidelines.

African Development Choices Mission: Our Mission is to prevent or relieve poverty in rural Africa by empowering communities and leaders to better manage public finances and resources so that they can invest in essential services and self-reliantly meet their local needs.
