As a Care Assistant at a Holy Cross care home, you'll carry out a range of tasks that help us provide the quality care our residents deserve. No two days will be the same, you'll get plenty of variety and will be able to develop a broad range of skills along the way. You'll be a big presence in our home, so it's important that you have excellent communication and team working skills and a positive, can-do approach. You should be practical and willing to turn your hand to different tasks, ready to adapt to all sorts of different situations. One position available

  • Shifts are worked on a rota basis to cover weekends, bank holidays and staff holidays
  • 12 hour shifts from 7.00 am pm
  • 36 to 48 hours per week to include every other weekend
  • No sponsorship available

Experience is not essential as full training will be given. Will support the team leaders on Duty in handovers and providing relevant information to the full care needs of the service users. Greet all visitors in a friendly, courteous and efficient manner and promote Holy Cross Care Home Positively in the local community.Maintain good working relations with all colleagues at all times. It is NOT intended as an exhaustive list and may be subject to review periodically.The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of care and for the supervision of others who are carrying out all aspects of the caring process. She/he will assist in setting and maintaining standards of care and will participate in maintaining effective management of the team and the Home, working alongside their colleagues.Main Responsibilities:1. Attention to detail including residents' rooms to be clean and tidy. To compete cleaning duties before the end of your shift. Ensuring a high standard of care is given to each resident in accordance with their care plan. Including documentation of fluid intake and following any guidelines in place with eating and drinking.2. Ensure documentation is completed and accurate and completed in a timely manner.3. Work as a team, follow directives from team leaders, nursing assistants, nurses and management team. Report anything that is a concern to you to management team or your senior team. Follow the whistleblowing procedure when needed to management team.4. Be Responsive e.g. do not let incontinence products or toiletries run out. Engage with residents making them feel valued and included. Be able to defuse situations between residents with verbal diversion skills.5. Taking resident's blood pressure, temperature and blood sugars when necessary. Basic administration of medication for things like paracetamol after medication training.6. Always arrive with enough time before the start of your shift for a handover. Remember to sign in. remember to complete your time sheet after every shift. Ensure you follow the dress code at all times. Attend training sessions in house. Complete all online courses allocated to you.7. Be supportive of your work colleagues and retain a positive attitude communicating well.
