We are looking for a Supported living officer who will provide housing related support to people with vulnerabilities to enable them to maintain their tenancies and to achieve their aspirations for independent living.

The clients we support have a varied range of support needs in areas such as requiring support to sustain their tenancies, understand their tenancy agreements, accessing primary healthcare, budgeting, and paying rent on time, reporting repairs and maintenance needs, working with other agencies to support their recovery from addiction and other traumas and accessing education, employment, and training opportunities.

You will have the client's best interests at heart and with your support they will be empowered to move on to suitable long-term accommodation. We pride ourselves on seeing this successful transition.

The role of a Supported living officer will include:

  • Identify residents' individual housing needs and, through discussion and agreement with the resident create a suitable tenancy sustainment plan.
  • Encourage tenants to live as fully and independently as possible within the local community, making referrals to external support agencies where necessary.
  • To carry out risk assessments as update regularly in line with Ready4Home policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance and always follow Ready4Home policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the protection of residents from abuse, taking responsibility and reporting safeguarding issues.
  • Liaise with other housing, health and social care professionals, benefits, welfare and advocacy agencies, and other property owners as appropriate.
  • Monitor non-payment of rent and act in line with the agreed policy and procedure on arrears. Provide budgeting assistance and payment plans where needed.
  • Monitor service charge payments according to policy.
  • Moving in clients once accepted from the team leader, inducting clients to their relevant property, and completing all signup paperwork, relevant ID is provided, and Housing benefit claim is made.
  • Ensure tenants understand their excluded license agreement and obligations and report any breaches to the Team Leader.
  • Ensure that fire and other equipment complies with H&S requirements via weekly checks.
  • Carry out risk assessments and reporting issues in line with health & safety policy and procedures.
  • Work within a team, support colleagues, attend team meetings, record, and share information appropriately and confidentially.
  • Keep up to date with issues relevant to housing & support, welfare benefits, and other applicable legislation.
  • To plan and run intensive housing management sessions with residents.
  • To plan and run passport to independence sessions with residents.
  • Undertake other delegated tasks and responsibilities that fall within your capabilities.
  • To be aware of Ready4Home values, policies, and procedures that are current and always carry out duties accordingly.
  • Ensure inform logs are completed and that our system is updated, and any reports required are submitted promptly and correctly.
  • To assist people with the understanding and obligation of their benefits.
  • To actively participate in training, supervision, and staff development sessions, providing constructive feedback.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and work independently on own initiative.
  • Help with the induction and training of new staff, students, and volunteers when requested.
  • To ensure effective communication occurs between our residents, team, and line management.
  • To inform your team leader of any support or concerns you may have identified for residents.
  • To support in any future initiatives for residents and for the organisation to maximize income.
  • To ensure voids meet lettable standards before letting and ensuring necessary repairs are reported according to Ready4Home' policy.
  • To take appropriate action in unforeseen emergencies, ensuring that the line manager is informed promptly.
  • To take responsibility for ensuring mandatory training is up to date and that relevant training event are attended.
  • To undertake, as when required, any additional tasks and responsibilities as are reasonable

Skills and experiences:

  • Ability to create housing management plans.
  • Able to create and maintain effective working relationships with partners and external agencies. Always remain professional within the workplace and when representing Ready4Home externally.
  • Ability to assist and advise on appropriate move on options and to register clients on local housing lists.
  • Ability to plan and run resident workshops in line with the renting ready and passport to independence modules.
  • Ability to carry out regular housing-focused client sessions.
  • Organisational skills, ability to multitask and prioritise daily workload, able to respond to changing or conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to risk assess clients and situations.
  • Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working with clients who have leave to remain.
  • Able to resolve incidents quickly and calmly and provide leadership when necessary.
  • Proficient IT skills with ability to use different software and systems.
  • Knowledge of housing legislation.
  • Must have a car with valid business insurance and full and clean licence.
