About the role

Financial Markets Middle Office department cooperates with Head Office to conduct market, credit, operational risk monitoring and reporting of London Trading Centre and Global Financial Markets (GFM) in Bank of China (BOC) London Branch and Bank of China (UK) Limited, and other overseas branches to meet the relevant policies and requirements in respect of risk framework establishment and implementation. As a Senior Associate – Operational Risk, you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting of operational risk and compliance risk within with the Financial Markets business in the London Trading Center, Bank of China London Branch and Bank of China (UK) Limited. This is a full time permanent position.

Key responsibilities

  • Support with identifying and assessing operational risk, AML/financial crime risk and compliance risk
  • Support the other European/African entities in controlling their operational and compliance risks associated with the Financial Markets business
  • Issue risk warning to stakeholders on identified operational risks and deficiencies
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to analyse incidents and reportable operational risks to identify underlying issues and root causes and assess the appropriateness of solutions or remedial actions
  • Cooperate with BRCM in risk assessment, quality assurance and control testing
  • Support with managing IT systems operations and upgrading systems
  • Assist in meeting the requirements of EMIR/EMIR Refit, MIFID II, MIFIR and other regulatory rules in submitting various transaction reports for the Bank and London Trading Centre's bilateral trades, including delegated reporting for clients
  • Maintain a suitable reporting infrastructure for the Bank
  • Coordinate with Head Office in leading the Bank of China Group's European institutions to meet relevant reporting requirements
  • Liaise with Compliance and other departments to advise stakeholders on regulatory compliance matters
  • Monitor and follow the key regulatory changes and report to related departments and HO
  • Cross backup for other teams of the department

Requirements

  • Degree educated in Banking, Finance, or other equivalent
  • Professional qualification in financial markets (e.g. CFA, FRM) is preferred
  • Relevant experience in Banking industry is preferred
  • Understanding of operational risk is advantageous
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluency in Mandarin is preferred

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
