Electrify Britain: Head of Media
Electrify Britain is on a mission to supercharge the UK's shift to a fully electrified economy. We campaign for policies that electrify transport, heating and industry: cutting bills for customers, improving living standards and powering a stronger economy.
We're a new kind of organisation - fast-moving, creative and fearless. We blend smart policy ideas with compelling storytelling to make electrification the next big national success story.
We're looking for a Head of Press & Campaigns to help us make noise, shape narratives, and build the momentum Britain needs for an electrified future.
This opportunity for an excellent media communicator who knows how to turn ideas into headlines and campaigns into impact. You'll lead Electrify Britain's media and press operation, driving coverage, shaping stories and managing relationships with journalists, while also playing a key role in our campaigning and external engagement work.
We want someone who can spot opportunities, craft irresistible stories, and get them in front of the right audiences, whether that's a front-page splash, a viral video, or a big political moment.
You'll also build relationships across politics, business and civil society, helping to grow our network of allies and raise Electrify Britain's profile as a credible, creative force in the energy debate.
As part of a small, entrepreneurial, ambitious team. You'll be ready to roll up your sleeves and help out wherever needed, shaping a young organisation as it grows.
What you'll do...
Press and media...- Lead Electrify Britain's press and media office, managing both proactive and reactive communications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors and producers across print, broadcast, and online.
- Write and edit sharp, engaging press releases, statements, comment pieces, social media posts and briefings.
- Spot opportunities in the news cycle and turn them into stories that cut through.
- Brief and support senior spokespeople for interviews and public appearances.
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to guide our messaging and campaign tactics.
- Work with the team to develop creative campaigns that bring Electrify Britain's ideas to life across media, digital, and public events.
- Build and maintain relationships with political, industry, and campaign stakeholders to support shared goals.
- Represent Electrify Britain at meetings, events, and campaign moments.
- Help plan and deliver campaign launches, reports, and other high-impact moments, managing our external communications grid.
- Seek and build new partnerships to maximise Electrify Britain's reach and influence
- Support effective interventions working with our teams in Scotland and Wales
- Contribute to a small, agile team, helping out across projects, coming up with ideas, and making things happen quickly.
- Bring creativity, positivity, and initiative to a growing organisation with big ambitions.
- You love to work with all kinds of people - you've got no functional shoulder pads - it's not 'my team versus other teams', it's 'we're all working together to change the energy system globally, and I'll lend anyone a hand'
- Great experience in communications, media/press or campaigns (though we're open-minded), think 5+ years...
- Proven experience securing media coverage and working confidently with journalists and producers.
- A creative eye for storytelling: you know what makes a good story and how to pitch it.
- Experience developing and delivering communications, social media or public campaigns that drive attention and action.
- Excellent writing skills: concise, engaging, and tailored to different audiences.
- Understanding of the UK media and political landscape, and an instinct for where the opportunities are.
- Confident representing your organisation externally and building strong relationships.
- A self-starter who thrives in a small, fast-moving team and believes in Electrify Britain's mission.
