Permanent Way Worker

About the role

Looking for a hands-on outdoor job where you can see the impact of your work every single day? As a Permanent Way Worker with Isle of Man Railways, you'll help maintain the track, drainage, fencing and infrastructure that keep our historic railways and tramways running safely. You'll use manual and powered tools, support inspections, assist with lining and levelling track, carry out firewatching duties and, after training, operate light plant and work on engineering trains and trams.

You'll join a close, supportive team where safety comes first and full training is provided -from Personal Track Safety to machinery operation, inspections and lineside fire response. You don't need previous track experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in. A competitive salary that increases each 12 months until you reach the salary maximum.

Annual leave starting from 21 days and 10 Bank Holidays; your annual leave will increase after your first year and again after your third year.
