POSITION: CATERING ASSISTANT with responsibility for cleaning Classrooms

OUTLINE: Help with maintaining a clean environment in the Nursery, help prepare lunch and tea for the children, maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, plan menus and ensure that all necessary ingredients are available for cooking activities, snack and mealtimes.

EXPECTATIONS:

  1. Clear and clean the classroom area after lunch in readiness for the children to use.

  2. Prepare lunch for the children on a daily basis.

  3. Prepare tea in advance preparation is necessary.

  4. Prepare snack.

  5. Prepare snacks and meals for trips and parties.

  6. Accommodate children with special dietary requirements.

  7. Prepare and serve non-vegetarian, vegetarian and special foods.

  8. Be aware of Food Hygiene regulations and where applicable attend a training course to attain a food hygiene certificate.

  9. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen area.

  10. Understanding the aim and ethos of the Nursery

  11. Understand and implement the Nurseries Policies and Procedures.

  12. Implement and ensure that others implement Kitchen Policies and Procedures.

  13. Ensure the smooth running of the kitchen

  14. Working as part of a team within the whole Nursery

  15. Working independently to perform all kitchen duties

  16. Provide food as stated on the weekly menu.

  17. Be adaptable if ingredients are not delivered.
